The talk will discuss mean-field hierarchies derived from (stochastic) interacting particle systems. These hierarchies include nonlinear kinetic Fokker-Planck equations and their hydrodynamic and scalar approximations. We will review the asymptotic derivation of the equations and discuss Semi-Lagrangian and Arbitrary-Lagrangian-Eulerian numerical schemes as well as asymptotic preserving approaches for the transition between the equations of the hierarchy. Finally, applications to granular flow, virtual fleece production and pedestrian flow simulations are presented.
