Ankündigung des Promotionsvortrags von: Herrn Andreas Herbst

Experimental access to the electric field oscillations of an ultrashort laser pulse in time domain offers a wide range of possible applications. Fieldoscopy provides insight into both the spectrum and phase of an optical pulse after interaction with a sample by analysing the changes in the sam-pled field after the interaction. Due to the high sensitivity, the chemical specificity and the excep-tional dynamic range, Fieldoscopy is highly suited for label-free microscopy.

In this talk, I will explain the implementation of a highly sensitive and precise field sampling system in the short-wave infrared (SWIR) spectral range with exceptional dynamic range and attosecond precision.

Furthermore, I present a study in which Fieldoscopy was used to characterise the nonlinear be-haviour of the localised surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of an indium tin oxide nanocrystal (ITO-NC) film, revealing a fluence-dependent saturation of the response. The high temporal reso-lution of this technique reveals the material response on a femtosecond time scale.

Finally, I present the implementation of the Fieldoscopy principle into a hyperspectral microscope. I show how the rich information recovered from sampling the electric field can be used to acquire an image of a structured ITO-NC sample.

In summary, this work presents the technique of Fieldoscopy, and how it enables hyperspectral imaging based on direct electric field sampling, paving the way for its application in sensitive label-free in-vivo imaging.
