Research

Friedrich-Alexander University (FAU) is one of Germany’s leading research universities and holds a leading position both nationally and internationally in a range of research areas.

The natural sciences play a crucial role in this regard. This is reflected in FAU’s research priorities: researchers from the Faculty of Sciences contribute to all five of these priorities.

Researchers from the Faculty of Sciences are also involved in the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Light, Max Planck Centre for Physics and Medicine, Medical Valley EMN, Munich Quantum Valley, and the Energy Campus Nürnberg. In addition, they contribute to the FAU centers of excellence in Immunomedicine (FAU I-Med), Light.Matter. Quantum Technologies (FAU LMQ), Medical Technology (FAU MT), New Materials and Processes (FAU NMP), and Solar (FAU Solar), as well as the research centers Mathematics of Data (FAU MoD) and New Active Substances (FAU NeW) and the Cluster of Excellence Transforming Human Rights.
