Other study options
In addition to the Bachelor’s, Master’s and State Examination degree courses, the Faculty of Sciences offers other opportunities for further education or training in “other studies”. These study options do not lead to the acquisition of a professional qualification. Certificates can be obtained in certain areas.
The following programs are available to acquire further qualifications:

Modulstudien Naturale – Naturwissenschaften und Nachhaltigkeit (in German)
The Modulstudien Naturale – Naturwissenschaften und Nachhaltigkeit (MSN) can be taken at FAU for up to two semesters. During this time, students take part in selected lectures and modules. The MSNs provide an orientation opportunity for first-year students who have not yet decided which natural sciences degree program they would like to choose. Students can take part in examinations and have them credited towards a later degree course at FAU. It is also possible to obtain a certificate.
Supplementary Module Studies in Physics
The Supplementary Module Studies in Physics can be taken by prospective physics students who lack the necessary qualifications to study the Master’s degree program in Physics at FAU. The prerequisite is a university degree or an equivalent degree as well as the condition of the admission committee of the Master’s degree program in Physics to compensate for missing skills.
Geosciences for Teaching (Additional studies)
The additional qualification Geosciences for Teaching offers a unique opportunity for teaching degree students studying primary or secondary education to pursue an additional qualification. In this additional qualification, students explore the topics of resources, climate change, natural disasters, groundwater protection and geoenergy, and consider the subject knowledge, teaching methods and practical aspects of geosciences.
