Prof. Johannes Barth PhD elected into the UNESCO Commission of IHP UNESCO and HWRP of WMO

For topics related to water Germany is represented via the Foreign Office to the International Hydrological Programme (IHP) of UNESCO and the Hydrology and Water Resources Programme (HWRP) of the World Metereological Organisation (WMO).

Prof. Johannes Barth PhD (Chair of Applied and Environmental Geology) has been elected into the scientific advisory committee. With this he represents not only FAU with environmental and climate topics, but also delivers important input about groundwater. This part of the hydrologic cycle is soften neglected, even though it is an immensely important component on our continents.

Johannes Barth also represents the International Association of Hydrogeologists (IAH) and the „Fachsektion Hydrogeologie der Deutschen Geologischen Gesellschaft – Geologische Vereinigung (FH DGGV). This offers important links to expert groups of Hydrogeologists and sustainable development goals.
