Prof. Dr. Siow Woon Ng new at the Faculty

As of January 1, 2023, Siow Woon Ng is Junior Professor for Physical Chemistry of Interfaces at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy. The tenure track professorship is affiliated to the Chair of Physical Chemistry II.

Prof. Ng studied physics and solid state physics at Universiti Sains Malaysia from 2007 – 2013. From 2014 – 2018, she did her PhD on semiconductor fabrication in Malaysia and at Univerzita Pardubice, Czech Republic. In addition to teaching at various Malaysian universities, she worked as postdoc at the Central European Institute of Technology (CEITEC), Brno University of Technology (BUT), Czech Republic from 2019 – 2022, where she conducted research on advanced low-dimensional nanomaterials and energy systems of the future.

Ms. Ng was awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) postdoctoral fellowship from the European Union in 2022 and a mobility fellowship from the Czech Republic in 2020. Apart from that, she has received several awards for her oral presentations.

In her research at the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy, Ms. Ng will focus on photoelectrochemistry, energy conversion and storage, additive manufacturing, as well as atomic layer deposition, 2D materials, and 1D nanostructuring.
