Habilitation

Habilitation

The Habilitation is the highest qualification which can be obtained at a German university. It is the traditional qualification required for a university professorship and requires a habilitation thesis (or a cumulative publication record) as well as a teaching demonstration. The degree is awarded by the faculty council.
