    Quality-policy and -culture

The general orientation of the quality management was determined in the course of the discussion on the Faculty of Sciences‘ mission statement.
The foci of this mission statement are the improvement of organizational processes in teaching and learning as well as the support of lecturers in developing the range and content of courses.

From the beginning of the step-by-step implementation attention is paid to the participation of all status groups to ensure transparency with regard to the objectives and realization of the quality management.
This approach considers the experience of all involved parties and strengthens the acceptance of quality management.
The principles of subsidiarity, participation, as well as transparency are put into effect and are guaranteed by the corresponding quality management structure.
Regarding the further development of teaching and learning regular and continuous quality-development as well as a strengthening of a quality culture at faculty and department level is paramount.

The faculty’s quality management in teaching and learning continues with the quality-management-principles of the FAU takes them into account in its practical implementation:

    • Enhancing transparency: A clear definition of responsibilities and continuous improvement of process sequences supports identification of all participants and efficiency of change measures.
    • Simplification of communication:  Collection and transfer of experience and solution approaches ought to occur fast and purposeful.
    • Ensuring subsidiarity: problems are solved on the lowest level possible.
Degree programmes, which are represented in the Study Committees, are the central level of quality development.
    • Expanding participation: improvement of study conditions will only be achieved if each status group is involved
    • Attaining continuity in quality management:  further development of quality is performed regularly and continuously.
