Councils and Boards

The Faculty of Sciences has a number of bodies and committees that carry out tasks within the framework of academic self-governance. The Faculty administration supports them in their work.

Scheduled meetings

As Dean of the Faculty Executive Board, the dean represents the Faculty of Sciences and manages its day-to-day operations. As a member of the University Executive Board, he represents the faculty on that body. The dean presides over meetings of the Faculty Council and the Faculty Executive Board and implements their decisions.

The Faculty Council at the Faculty of Sciences consists of the Faculty Board, professors, members of the academic and non-academic staff, students and the Women’s Representative.

The Vice Deans assist the Dean and represent him in the performance of his duties.

Deans of Studies ensure that the curriculum complies with examination and academic regulations, that students can complete their studies within the standard period of study, and that students receive appropriate academic support. They are also responsible for evaluating teaching, taking student feedback into account.

Across faculties, academic mid-level faculty members hold a seat on the FAU Senate. In addition, academic mid-level faculty members are represented on various FAU commissions and committees. Elections and appointments take place at the Convention of Research Staff. University Administration and FAU Bodies

The election of representatives of the academic mid-level academic staff to the Faculty Council takes place as part of the university-wide elections. The representative to the University Senate is also up for election at this time. Information on submitting nominations and the election process is available from the FAU Election Office. Elections and appointments for other representative positions take place in the individual departments, institutes, and divisions.
